Thorney doctors to merge with city-wide group
Doctors in Thorney are planning to merge with other practices in Peterborough to form a new city-wide group practice called Octagon.
The merger is planned for July 1 and two patient consultation meetings have been arranged in June.
A spokesman for the new group said that, initially, patients would see little change, but once practices have merged completely they expected to be able to offer better choice of care across the group.
“The patient meetings will allow people the opportunity to ask any questions they might have about the merger, and allow them the opportunity to hear from doctors on what this will mean for patient care.”
The first meeting will take place at Manor Farm Community Centre on Friday, June 8. Doors will open at 6:30pm for a 7pm start and the meeting will run until 8pm. The Community Centre is at 70 High Street, Eye and is directly opposite the Eye Medical Practice.
The second meeting will be at The Allia Future Business Centre on Friday, June 15. Doors will open at 5:30 for a 6pm start and the meeting will run until 7pm. Allia Future is based at Peterborough United FC off London road.
The group also has a website: www.octagonmedicalpractice.co.uk, which contains more information about the surgeries involved and the vision for the new group.
