Improvement work to Paston Parkway Junction 20
|Work starts this month to improve the junction of the A47 with Paston Parkway. The £5 million contract, which will take nine months to complete, is aimed at easing traffic congestion, particularly during peak traffic periods. With further housing planned at the nearby Norwood and Paston Reserve development sites, this was projected to get worse unless improvements are made.
The number of lanes approaching (and on) the roundabout will be increased and traffic lights installed.
Councillor Peter Hiller, the city council’s cabinet member for growth, planning, housing and economic development, said: “Peterborough is going to experience significant growth over the next 10 years, with numerous developments planned – including Paston Reserve, which will consist of approximately 1,500 homes.
Traffic restrictions will be kept to a minimum, but there will be temporary lane closures, also weekend and night-time closures.
