A47 closed overnight next week
The A47 is to be closed for two nights next week for roadworks to take place. This is the notice from Highways England:
We are working on behalf of Highways England to improve safety the A47 near you. This work will improve signage and road marking on this stretch of road between Thorney and Guyhirn that has a history of accidents.
Subject to weather conditions, we plan to start this on Wednesday 3 February and be finished by Friday 12 February. We will be working between 21:00 and 06:00 on weeknights to minimise disruption. While we will be doing some working during the day, this will not affect the road. Our work may result in delays for local road users and through traffic, for which we apologise.
To keep road users at a safe distance from the works, we have traffic lights in place while we are working. For two nights we will need to close the road to replace the studs in the centre of the road – this will be done on Tuesday 9 and Wednesday 10 February.
When the A47 is closed, eastbound traffic will exit before Thorney to head south at Whitepost roundabout, taking the A1139 to Fletton Interchange, then east on the A605 towards Whittlesey, continuing through Coates and heading north to Guyhirn, then north on the A141 and re-joining the A47 at the A141 Guyhirn roundabout. The diversion will be the reverse for the westbound closure.
We will do our utmost to complete the works as quickly as possible, avoiding disturbance and keeping noise to a minimum.
We want to make your journey as easy as possible during this time. Our e-mail alert service gives details of closures and diversions near you. You can sign up at www.highways.gov.uk/east_subscribe.
