Thorney Heritage Museum 30th Anniversary Celebration and new Interactive Display launch.

This celebratory event will take place at the Bedford Hall from 10:30am onwards. There will be an opportunity to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the┬ácommunity’s independent Museum and officially launch the new presentation.

There will be an opportunity to learn about some of the notable people associated with Thorney through the interactive display as well as view census research work carried out by our local schools and listen to guest speakers.

Dr Rebecca Browett (University of Kent) will speak on St Aethelwold of Winchester.

Professor Patricia Fara (University of Cambridge) talks about the History of Science (linked to the profile of Mary Smith and her 1770 Commonplace book).

Helen Parker-Drabble will talk about the Life and Time of Walter Parker, a son of Thorney.

Refreshments and lunch will be provided and the day will conclude with optional visits to the museum and guided village tours.

Thanks to support and funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund this event will be free to all who attend.
